[MU] - SEPTEMBER STORYTELLING
The Storyteller, when they greet you, has assumed the shape of an osprey. Their silhouette seems somewhat stooped, as though their materialization has come at an effort. When they speak, the words are quiet - nearly a whisper.
"New lands must be found. To that end, I will be absent for the time being. I will do my best to return promptly, but I cannot say when I will next be back."
A pause. A talon scratches the sand. The Storyteller lowers their head, plainly reluctant about what must be said next.
"I also cannot say what might occur, as a result of my absence. Mu is a capricious land that requires my constant mediation. Should it...misbehave, you will at least have the full understanding as to why. I leave you in Harv's capable hands, and - will try not to be gone long."
And with that, the scene transitions to a familiar setting.
It is time, once more, for you to tell a story. The setting will be familiar for oldcomers, and newcomers will recognize it from the introduction they received in their dreams. This too is a dream, and the ink-black dark is illuminated only by the bonfire surrounded by log seats. And seated around the fire are your fellow islanders, many of whom doubtless know the drill by now.
One by one, you will each have the opportunity to share your stories, as stories possess a certain undeniable power. Newcomers can tell whatever tale they wish, but for those who have been in LifeAftr for at least one Storytelling, only stories of their time in LifeAftr will count down the road. The story need not be long, or conventional, or even verbal; as long as the Storyteller knows it has been told, it will qualify. Those of the nonverbal persuasion have, as of a request issued by Ren (
catpiper), an alternative means of telling their stories if they so choose, in the form of the Chamber of Glyphs.
If you prefer to keep your mouth shut, that's always an option, though you're more liable to benefit if you do. Perhaps you'd rather not relive any of your history, varied and variegated as it must be. Or maybe you're something of a compulsive un-truther, prone to embellishments and long, fanciful tangents. As long as the core of the story is true to its spirit, you are free to spin your tale however you like.
So choose well.

OOC || FORM
Remember that those who have already undergone one Storytelling cycle must tell a story of their time in LifeAftr in order for it to count. Newcomers may tell whatever stories they like!
Re: OOC || FORM
Character Name: Dogo
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: Just one!
Offering(s): Dogo tells the tale about he hunted his very first zebra with his family! He'll exaggerate and lie by saying how he took down the zebra, using his quick wit to bring it down. And that he and his family was almost thwarted by a group of bullies called the Lion Guard who wanted the zebra all to themselves, but his family chased them away.
He seems a little bummed out when he mentions his family.
Public/Private: Public, he wants everyone to hear the lying little shit
Shion | No.6
Character Name: Shion
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings:Three- one of which goes to the upkeep of Lupnet (though since I missed last month you can take two if needed!)
Offering(s): (1) A tale of disappearances. About how he didn't exist for two weeks over the last few months. About how strange that was and his worries about what might have happened. Most pertinent though about the strange dreams he had had just before waking.
(2) Ceej is the best alright? Shion shows the journal that Connor made him for his birthday and sort of tells the story contained in the pictures but mostly just talks about how Ceej is The Best.
(3) Dinosaur herding. In which he mostly talks about Leo, Cobweb, Chuck, Maribelle and Dogmeat because they are the best herding team. Some humans helped as well.
Public/Private: Public.

Character Name: Asgore
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: Two!
Offering(s):
1) Asgore will talk about how he met Nari at the Clothes Pile, and she taught him about memes! He is very earnest in the telling of this, but it's still very much...your dad talking about memes. He's got a galaxy cat T-shirt now. Actually, he has multiple ones. This is now everybody's burden to bear.
2) He'll also tell about his meeting with Harv and his exploration of Nuidan. He tries very hard to hide that he thinks the moofah are kinda weird, but it's been an extremely long time since he encountered human livestock that looks like he does, and yeah it's kinda weird

1. What the heck went on in Keeping up with the Lucis Caelums while he wasn’t paying attention??? Like, all(?) the Chocobros have gotten new love lives, it’s ridiculous.
2. An overview of the new island- its abundance of resources, and his group’s attempts to herd animals back into some form of pen. When he talks about the latter, it seems like he’s quite enjoyed it.
Public/Private: Public.

Character Name: Lillie
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 2
Offering(s):
- That time she became an official member of Team Skull. She emphasizes how fun it was to look for clothes on her own, too - even mentions that she's never picked out her own outfits before, and really had a blast this time.
- A very short story that she even says might not count for favors, but that it has a lot of meaning to her. It's the last discussion she had with Luna. Lillie feels obligated to share a few details about Luna. Calling her strong and brave and mentioning that she fills her with joy and confidence. She explains that Luna was - is - a very close friend, but that she's disappeared recently. She tells people to keep a lookout for her if they can, but that she knows people come and go on these islands...
Public/Private: Public!

Character Name: Ren
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 3 (1 for LupNet)
Offering(s):
Story 1-Bug Party!! It's clear that she doesn't understand the family connection between all these bugs and she describes a cheating baby, the guy that 'disappeared like a ghost' and how the Knight 'got really tall' so they could try to win a game of tag. It's not clear whether they did, but it sounds like fun. She's very excited-it was a fun day.
Story 2-She mentions a girl that dropped out of a tree, but the real star in her heart is the bacon, clearly, by the way she talks about the pocket food. Bacon! Is! Great! And this girl took care of the strip in her pocket so well. There wasn't mold or lint or anything. It was nice and everyone should respect this newcomer, even if she 'hides in a tree like a bird' sometimes.
The third story is a happy little ramble about how Chara and their sibling got older! She's excited! They did it. She's proud of them for growing up all by themselves and that pride practically radiates from her voice. Whoever did that rock drawing of them is 'very talented' and she's glad that special day was brought to light.

Public/Private: All private!

Character Name: The Drifter
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 3
Offering(s): As usual, it's a nonverbal telling but they use the Chamber of Glyphs to supplement their text-based narration. As laconic as they are, the illustrations tell a more compelling tale.
Public/Private: All public, using the Chamber of Glyphs!
no subject
Character Name: Agent Washington
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 3
Offering(s): As always, Wash's tone for these "stories" is less of a story and more of a post-mission report. He's clipped, formal, brusque, and probably not terribly interesting to listen to.
Public/Private: All private, per usual

Character Name: Gladiolus Amicitia
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 3
Offering(s):
Some Drama- with CT as a result of flower confessions. He's really not sure what to do with this, honestly. Tory some input would be nice.
Raise the Roof!- He's super excited about all the people that helped him get things set up so now the workshop is complete!
Herding Adventures- It's weird going on adventures with people that aren't the chocobros but Shion is a good and he's still working on the Laurent drama.
Public/Private: The CT drama is private but the rest is public.
He's also very concerned about this whole Tory is leaving thing. Bro, what even?

Character Name: Guzma
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: Three!!
Offering(s):
- A rather aggressive conversation with Lillie about his own pent up feelings toward her and her mom, and an admitting of just how tied together he was in her schemes. He'll admit to being angry, dark, and vague about a lot of things - not telling everything to full capacity - but it's still...deep. There are things he doesn't want to repeat, he's done enough retelling of his life's story last month, and he's not about to open Pandora's box again. He will say, however, that it ended on a good note, and he's thankful he kind of understands the kid a bit better.
- Being able to find a bunch of new clothes and actually have a so-called "battle" in the clothing pile. He'll snicker and laugh stupidly over the fact he absolutely used a woman's bra as a makeshift slingshot. HE'S ACTUALLY 6 YEARS OLD. Also he won. He totally fucking won.
- BEES!! HE AND LILLIE FOUND BEES ON THE NEW ISLAND!!! AND THEY'RE NOT TERRIBLE HORROR-TERRORS, THEY'RE CUTE AND SMALL AND GOOD AND ACTUALLY MAKE HONEY AND OH MY GOSH LET HIM TELL YOU ABOUT HOW BEST TO CALM THEM DOWN AND HOW TO EXTRACT THE HONEY CAREFULLY WITHOUT DAMAGING THEM AND--!!!!!!!!!
Yes, he's going to talk loudly and excitedly and rant about bees and bee care and just how great bees are, like you all have no idea. You think you know but you all have NO IDEA. Guys, his first day on the new island and he found the best thing ever. Sure he got stung a few times, but the little buzzers are just working hard to protect their home and their queen and their honey. He loves and forgives them. uvu
Public/Private: All open.

Character Name: Ammy
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: Two.
Offering(s):
- A sharing of stories between two gods. Ammy recounts when she laid with Grimm and listened to his tale, and retold hers to him as well. It was calming, relaxing, and let them both know a little more about the other, to better understand just what sort of beings they are.
- Yet another story, but this time with pictures, and about the brave Satomi Canine Warriors - the Kusa Eight! Ammy retells sharing this story to Ren, and being utterly pleased by how receptive and sweet Ren was to the whole thing, though she does make a quick quip at how Ren smudged one of her drawings.
Public/Private: Both public!!

Character Name: Legion
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 1
Offering(s):
This month they mostly talk about an encounter with their bug friends and the discovery that they are, in fact, from the same universe of origin. More importantly, apparently people are interested in the Geth language.

Character Name: Agent Carolina
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 3
Offering(s):
1. A slightly unwilling tale of the arrival of, and she will pause, debating how she wants to introduce him. Yet, she settles on what he has always been ... The Director, in which she will just continue to call him The Director.
2. Meeting a talking skeleton... who wears clothes, which does seem to perplex Carolina, but hey. She's never met a talking skeleton, so maybe it's normal.
3. CT bringing home a 'pet', which there is a certain amount of warmth in her voice over that.

Character Name: Ignis Scientia
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 2
Offering(s):
Story 1: (Doesn't include Not!Moose Hunting, which is below) Ignis first story focuses on the curing task he, Prompto and Ardyn spent a great deal of time working on during the month. At first he had been hesitant to come to another new island, but once he started hearing word trickle back about Harv and their tasks, he couldn't resist making his way over. Not when the tasks involved the chance to better their living conditions. Once the curing tents were found in the winter quarter of the island, they were finally able to finish the task, and Ignis makes sure to ask everyone who is there to hear his story if they have ideas where they would like the animal feed store placed on Enso, and if they have any specific types of feed they are looking for.
Story 2: So, when someone, or a small group of someone's, runs into an animal they don't recognize, the appropriate response is to kill it and find out if it's edible, right? Well, according Ardyn and Prompto that is apparently what you do. Ignis can't even list himself totally as a voice of reason as he tells the tale of their fight against the first Anteka they ran into while exploring. At least he can count himself out of the posturing and such that came afterward.
Mostly.
Public/Private: For the first time in a while, both are public.

Character Name: The Knight
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 2
Offering(s):
- Exploring the new island with a new friend. The Knight carefully draws out as much of the trees and foliage as they can remember in the process of telling this story.
- Playing with Amaterasu. The Knight seems vaguely apprehensive about the end of the story, apparently fearing they might have started some kind of prank war or something, but it's a benign sort of nervousness.
Public/Private: Public.

Character Name: Héctor
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 3
Offering(s):
- Showing a polite newcomer around Enso, which mostly involved a lot of walking and a lot of blabbermouthing.
- Finding and naming a kittycat. Naturally, he ended up with the name Pepe in honor of Pepita, and in proper cat fashion, ignored that name like he did all the others.
- A rather plotless 'story' about some weirdo who doesn't believe Héctor's dead, lies a lot about being human, and sulks like a toddler instead of asking for help getting around. So immature.
Public/Private: Public
Kravitz
Character Name: Kravitz
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 2
Offering(s): Kravitz has started using this more as public forum than a storytelling, which means he's going to start with his meeting with Harv and what he was told about gods- being tied to the islands, and the shifting landmass. He'll make sure it's actually a story by relating it to the gods in his world, about how his deities were in charge of structures of the world, not physical land, and how odd that still is.
Second, he is going to take the opportunity to gripe about Foster and remind everyone that while he hasn't been very upfront about it recently, that no one is allowed to bring anything back from the dead and if he catches you, god help him, he is going to murder whatever it is you've dragged into existence and then report you to the Storyteller, because he's exactly this type of man. He probably has no authority to be saying half of this, but he sure is taking it upon himself to make sure this is what's up, so no more necromancy. He has One Rule. And it's no necromancy. God damnit.
Public/Private: Public!
Beauregard
Character Name: Beauregard
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 3
Offering(s): She's reserved at the beginning, sort of in the back with her arms crossed, but when there's a lull she'll jump in. She starts with a fanciful story about wrestling a giant snake to save a fisherman's daughter, which, for as much as it seems insane, is absolutely true. She's the kind of person who doesn't tell as linear story, so much as it's phrases like "And then I punched it and it exploded like, pshhhh, and it was awesome". By the way she says it, this wasn't even the most exciting thing she's done in her life by a very long shot.
Second, she'll lean in to the idea of a horror flick by the fire and tell a story of visiting a circus where, upon seeing a riveting performance of a young dwaven girl's song, a man morphed and changed into a horrible monster. She doesn't hide any details, going into sometimes gruesome descriptions of the way his flesh tore open and how he was coming to eat everyone here probably in the hopes that someone would scream. Whether they do or not, she laughs, and makes it very clear that she subsequently kicked it's ass and it's now very dead.
The last story she tells is more recent, which relates to the visit of a little town called Hupperdook. She talks about upon their visit, they entered into a speed drinking competition known as the Hour of Honor and absolutely kicked ass. This is the first time she's mentioned some of her friends- specifically, people by the name of Mollymauk, Nott, and Caleb, and conveniently leave out that she's the only person who lost her round. Ultimately, she actually sounds super animated about this one, finishing it off by proclaiming these being the stories of the victories of a group called the Mighty Nein.

Character Name: Connor Murphy
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 2
Offering(s):
- Us On A Perfect Day: He hung out with Evan in an orchard and nobody died. It's a Christmas Miracle.
- Point Me Home: You ever just make the boy you have a crush on an incredibly time intensive gift and try to confess your love for him but then not get all the way to the confessing part so you're stuck in a weird limbo of "friends who kiss"? Yeah.
Public/Private: Private. God, who would like. Say what they feel out loud???no subject
Character Name: Damianos
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 3
Offering(s):
- He fixed a fence and the team herded some DINOSAURS. Yes, he seems incredibly excited to say they were DINOSAURS. (Did he mention there were DINOSAIRS?)
- He fixed a completely different fence!!! There was a lot of fences to fix and he's very proud of Chuck for helping.
- Technically an offering for Harv, but he wrote a poem extolling Harv's generosity and kindness. He's giving it to the Storyteller because he gets the distinct impression Harv wouldn't see the point in it.
Public/Private: Public.no subject
Character Name: Ann Takamaki
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: 1
Offering(s): 1. Ann tells a story about how she got to know her best friend from home, Shiho Suzui. She and Shiho actually met in art class, when Ann made a painting and Shiho told her how terrible it was. The reason why they became friends from there on is because Shiho was the first person to be honest with Ann, and they've been inseparable ever since. Ann seems very nostalgic and sort of...sad when she tells this story.
Public/Private: Public
no subject
Character Name: CT
Character Journal:
Number of Offerings: One
Offering(s): A heavily edited retelling of how she met her pet tigerlily and began the process of taming and training her. She doesn't lie, but she does leave out the parts where she yells at both Wash and Gladio and narrowly avoids starting active fights with both of them, oops. It's just happy kittycat times.
She also mentions that her cat has a name, Amitusha, and that she's named after someone from home, though she doesn't specify who.
Public/Private: Private, everyone get out of her business

Dogo | OTA
So there I was, me and my sister chasing down a zebra that was like 5 times - no, 10 - no, 20 times our size! And I tricked the zebra while my sister snuck up from behind and we took it down together! But this group of bullies showed up - called the Lion Guard! They tried to take our zebra before we could eat it, but mom wouldn't let them. She let out the biggest, meanest growl ever and scared them away!
[Most of this story sounds... questionably accurate, not the Dogo would say otherwise.]
