[It is not yet time for the monthly Storytelling, and yet, you find yourself by the campfire of your dreams nonetheless. Opposite you sits an antlered polar bear, currently in the midst of massaging their horns.]

[They seem as tired as they sound.]

Many of you have already met with the people known as the Jormun, and learned of the coming death of the sun. I am here to confirm that reality, and the week of darkness that shall be upon us in two weeks' time. [A pink tongue licks at pointed teeth.] Yet again, we find ourselves in the midst of a situation in which none of you have asked to be involved in. However, I can assure that you will not be alone.

The entire world is preparing itself. The Jormun are here to guide and assist, and to be assisted in turn. I will join you in this fight where I can.

For many of you, the shift in climate is something for which none of us were prepared. I would like to open my temple at this time, both as a place of shelter and a safe space for the duration of the darkness itself. You have my word that your safety is guaranteed within those walls

I do not currently have the spare power to ensure you are fed. Take this time and knowledge to prepare as you need.

[Perhaps, it would be worthwhile to mention the potential of loss at this time. There are always those in need of reassurance, and yet. They are not the best figure to seek, in such moments. That much has been made clear in the passing months.]

I shall do my best to converse with you now as you desire. It may be one of the few opportunities available, before the start of this conflict.

If we do not speak tonight, may you keep safe and triumph in your battles.

[The Storyteller studies the weapon with a loose, distracted sort of interest. They have seen others of its kind, and have learned how best to supply for its use.]

You need only speak your offering when you make your request. I cannot manifest ammunition without the energy to do so.

❰ ...well shit. clem pauses a second, then: ❱ I'm sorry, I've never done an offering before. Can you tell me what to do? ❰ otherwise she has no idea what to offer or how to do it. ❱ Like... what kind of offerings do you like?

[that...actually kind of sounds almost sincere.]

I assure you, it is not.

[A pause.]

It would be nice if it remained as such.

I wasn’t exactly planning on it. I assure you things get very boring with naught but daemons for company.

[Muffet approaches the Storyteller with a brief, polite curtsey- polite as ever, even under difficult circumstances. Her bearing is calm but solemn as she greets them:]

I am glad that you are... as well as one can be expected, given the situation. I had worried about you, after that last Storytelling was so unusual.

As I have been stockpiling food of my own making in preparation for this coming darkness, I would like to ask your permission to store some of it- along with other similarly useful survival supplies- within your temple, so that we can be certain of having resources available for those in need.

[story_teller]

[The Storyteller inclines their head in turn, careful with their horns.]

I am divided across this world, and the people who need me. It has had some side effects for you that I was not expecting.

And certainly, do so. There are chambers within my temple that would be appropriate for such a thing. I will attempt to provide some shelving for your use.

Thank you for the hospitality, then. I'll begin bringing supplies to the temple tomorrow morning, if that's not too soon.

[She's a little curious about what other places they might be in at any given time, but she doesn't want to get too off-topic right now.]

Speaking of other peoples, the Jormun seemed to be familiar with you. If you've known them for some time, do you also know more about these threats they intend to fight during the darkness? I've been trying to learn as much about their nature as I can manage, in order to prepare.

If anyone in your temple sustains any sort of injury, I can provide healing.

And you, Mira. Thank you, for your continued faith.

[They bow their head in acknowledgement.]

No one shall come to harm within the temple, you have my word. However, there will undoubtedly be those who arrive with a need for your assistance.

[Hearing the temple is open as a temporary shelter is a short lived comfort when it's sandwiched between fight and battles. Not great. Not great all. Also, she hates this. She knows so many brave beans who are probably going to prepare to fight instead of hide and gosh.

Yep, she totally hates this.]

[They know she does, and that is why, when Ren approaches, a gentle paw will gather her into their fluffy side.]

I will try to visit you. And while you wait, perhaps you can help brighten my temple with your artistic talents.

[Scribble everywhere Ren you now have complete and utter permission.]

[To say she has... mixed feelings about the Storyteller is an understatement. Dax had fought for the residents of the Tower, and Zo really had saved them. But Ruana, Jason, and Riku? Not nearly so benevolent. And she has no idea where the Storyteller falls on that scale. The Storyteller claimed ignorance as to who or why everyone was brought here, but Ruana had done likewise with the cause of the destruction of everyone's universes, the one that necessitated all of them being brought to the Tower.

And look how that'd turned out.

Still, if this is all really true, and they only have two weeks to prepare... well, it could all be a discussion for a later time. ... not to mention two weeks notice was more than they normally got for Jason's experiments or Ruana's games (unless you counted knowing the monthly rotation).]

Thank you, for letting us use your temple. [a beat] Is... it okay if we start putting supplies there, beforehand?

[story_teller]

[The polar bear inclines their great fuzzy head in a polite nod.]

By "supplies" I assume you mean blankets, food, and sources of light? [They are not strictly opposed to weaponry, but they would rather not see their home at risk of being damaged, or worse.]

[The polar bear whuffs out from their great, wet nose.]

I'd not anticipated there being such...imposing repercussions to such an oversight.

Well, that's a shit ton of bear for sure. At least they're back to their white fur, which suits the weather much better too. Lup has a lot on her mind when she eyes them up and down by the fire, so how about we don't start with any of that.

"The antlers are a bit much, dawg." Going by the lazy smirk on her face, she kind of approves though. "Hey and thanks for the infinite jug o' booze, that's really appreciated." Even if the twins mostly just kind of shared the jugs back and forth between them.

[story_teller]

She seems in good cheer, considering the announcement of impending doom. But then, she's used to such things. They paw at their antlers for a moment, chuffing softly.

"I happen to enjoy antlers. They are a sign of age and experience." If they could smile, they would- the best they can do is bear bare their fangs, however-- and so they opt not to. "It was the least I could do, to mark what is to many of you the night of Candlenight... or a holiday of similar importance."

...so, you're Storyteller. [Keith sits cross legged, his hands on his thighs as he watches the polar...bear person across from him.]

Can you tell me anything about the Night Creatures? Anything at all that we don't already know could be useful.

[story_teller]

They come from the sea. They live on the ocean's floor like the bottom feeders they are. Every one of them would be happy to see the night's eternal embrace.

[They sound, it seems, viscerally disgusted as they refer to the creatures in question, one great paw scratching at the sand in agitated, clawed swipes.]

Hey, feels like it's been a while. [He's not the same person that sat in front of Storyteller a while ago. Well, that's not entirely true. Hinata smiles faintly to himself as he sits down.]

....what exactly is the sun made of it that it dies and is reborn like this?

If one believes in the concept of time.

[Do they? They do not say.]

I am the Storyteller, not the Astronomer. I cannot know. Have you heard of a beast called the phoenix, Hajime Hinata?

If we gotta fight... Can I have my gun back? I mean, the one I can summon. I do a lot better with that.

[His limited ammo wouldn't get him very far in a large fight.]

[The Storyteller pauses in rubbing their antlers to regard Prompto.]

Perhaps. You know the proper channels to make such a request. When you return to the waking world, do so, and I will see if it can be arranged. I cannot promise results.
