[MU] - DECEMBER STORYTELLING / MEMORY SHARE

Something is wrong.

This may not very well be obvious, at first. The Storyteller is not present to put forth yet another diatribe, informative or apologetic, and the backdrop of guttering flame and sandy campfire is as present as ever...albeit briefly.

Those who tell their stories will start to notice something...odd taking place. Indeed, no matter how they intend to begin their tale, the land of Mu will immediately start to warp to accommodate it, or something utterly unlike it, until storytellers and listeners alike may find themselves in an exact recreation of a seemingly random memory, in the most stark and painstaking of detail. There is no altering the memory, nor is there any preventing it once it's begun to play - you will simply have to witness memories that are not your own this go around.

Furthermore, stories that take place in worlds other than LifeAftr will be, frankly, inevitable. Those memories, too, will be recreated, to be relived by the teller and lived by the listener.

It is time, once more, for you to tell a story...with a slight twist! This is, in fact, our first player plot, as provided by Dragon! The initial setting will be familiar for oldcomers, and newcomers will recognize it from the introduction they received in their dreams.

Yet for this Storytelling only, people can imagine whatever stories they wish, from both their homes and their time on LifeAftr, as long as they don't mind the fact that others will be reliving those stories in the form of an impromptu memory share.

Even those who prefer not to voice their stories aloud are not safe this time around. If the memory is recalled in essence, Mu will shift to accommodate it in full.

There is, however, a benefit to this: those who venture memories to be relived will receive both a befuddled apology from the Storyteller, who will assert that this was most definitely not meant to happen (they're the Storyteller, not the Rememberer!), as well as a tired promise that the relived memories will be worth two offerings each, as if in compensation.

Not that it counts for much, probably.

Something like that.

[Not from home- but possibly the closest thing they've really had to one in a very long time. A place they felt in control of themself, far more than here or anywhere else they've ever been. Does that constitute as a home.]

We were business partners.
maku: (even if we never promised)

... seriously? You're like, eight.

[ says Karin, comfortable in the seniority of the old, old age of fourteen. ]

What kinda business would you even get up to?
achievementhunter: (well would you look at the time)

I am hardly eight, ma'am. [An amused retort. They still don't specify an age- but then.

They don't actually know it. And their amusement only grows as they explain their past "business" pursuits.]

We were experimenting with flowers that showed clear signs of magical properties; how to sustain them in a non-magical environment in the hopes that those properties could be used in some manner.

Of course, we were also in the midst of a war at the time. The two of us were responsible for multiple, successful strikes within enemy territory.

[A casual shrug.]

That kind of business.
maku: (risking everything)

... huh.

[ That's not the answer she was expecting and for a moment, she seems a little wrong-footed, like she's not totally sure how to respond. Neither of them had seemed old enough to be fighting in a war in that memory but she supposes that none of the Hero Club look particularly old enough, at least not when it comes to fighting gods.

But instead of letting any of this on, she just gives another one of those thoughtful hums and tilts her head. ]

So did any of it actually work or what?

[Huh indeed. They relish the surprise they garner, but allow for the change in topic easily enough, content with that.]

Some- less than half, initially, but we successfully sustained a small crop for around six months with little issue, predominantly supported from residue off a magical generator.

Unfortunately, we had little time to test the properties of the flowers themselves, aside from a once-off scenario which may have involved other factors. Hardly concrete proof to their use.

[All of this is rattled off with an increasing-- cheer, almost. Chara certainly seems more animated, at least, talking with their hands just as much as their mouth.]
