[MU] - DECEMBER STORYTELLING / MEMORY SHARE

Something is wrong.

This may not very well be obvious, at first. The Storyteller is not present to put forth yet another diatribe, informative or apologetic, and the backdrop of guttering flame and sandy campfire is as present as ever...albeit briefly.

Those who tell their stories will start to notice something...odd taking place. Indeed, no matter how they intend to begin their tale, the land of Mu will immediately start to warp to accommodate it, or something utterly unlike it, until storytellers and listeners alike may find themselves in an exact recreation of a seemingly random memory, in the most stark and painstaking of detail. There is no altering the memory, nor is there any preventing it once it's begun to play - you will simply have to witness memories that are not your own this go around.

Furthermore, stories that take place in worlds other than LifeAftr will be, frankly, inevitable. Those memories, too, will be recreated, to be relived by the teller and lived by the listener.

It is time, once more, for you to tell a story...with a slight twist! This is, in fact, our first player plot, as provided by Dragon! The initial setting will be familiar for oldcomers, and newcomers will recognize it from the introduction they received in their dreams.

Yet for this Storytelling only, people can imagine whatever stories they wish, from both their homes and their time on LifeAftr, as long as they don't mind the fact that others will be reliving those stories in the form of an impromptu memory share.

Even those who prefer not to voice their stories aloud are not safe this time around. If the memory is recalled in essence, Mu will shift to accommodate it in full.

There is, however, a benefit to this: those who venture memories to be relived will receive both a befuddled apology from the Storyteller, who will assert that this was most definitely not meant to happen (they're the Storyteller, not the Rememberer!), as well as a tired promise that the relived memories will be worth two offerings each, as if in compensation.

Not that it counts for much, probably.

[ The third memory starts out very much like the second -- it's only the shadows playing across the wall that make it clear that this is a very different day. All the girls are back at the blackboard in the club room with Karin stood at the front scoffing down a whole bag of dried sardines.

'Alright, it's time to exchange some information, so listen up. I'm here for your sake since you're all so green and irresponsible.'

Fu just squints at her. 'Dried sardines?'

'So what?!' Karin immediately barks back, defensively. 'Vitamins, minerals, calcium, taurine, EPA, DHA -- it's a complete diet! And you're not getting any.'

'I don't want any!'

Just like last time, the chatter turns from Hero business for a while to talk of snacks and sweets and this time even Karin's not able to tune herself out entirely. By the time the conversation gets back on track, Karin's scribbled some notes on the board.

Vertex attack frequency
One every 20 days (approx.)
1 unit attack -> 20 days -> 3 unit attack at once -> 20 days -> 5th unit attack (and I took it out!)
7 units to go!

Karin's back at the front and she's speaking with the authoritative, confident tone of someone who knows what they're talking about. It's these 'Vertexes' again. She's talking about their attack patterns, how frequently they attack and how this ambiguous 'we' has found themselves thrown off by an anomaly and as a result have been predicting less straightforward results in the future. She even warns the other girls -- she's an experienced fighter but the others girls are newbies. If they're not careful, they really could end up dead.

'But by gaining battle experience and leveling up, you can increase your strength. We call that Mankai.'

'I never knew that!' says Yuna and Togo gives her an indulgent smile.
'You can read all about it in your app.'
'I never knew!'

'By repeating Mankai...' Karin cuts in, in a tone of 'shut up and pay attention', 'You can become even stronger. That's the Taisha's Hero System.'

'I assume you've already experienced Mankai then?' Togo asks and Karin goes a little red as she averts her gaze.

'Uh. No. Not yet.' she mutters.

Fu barks out a laugh. 'You're just level one too! That means you're no different from any of us.'

'Excuse me! My battle abilities are WAY higher than yours so don't go thinking we're the same!' Karin snarls, still red in the face.

She lets out a huff and leans back against the blackboard as the other club members start chatting between themselves, talking about arranging early morning training sessions and ways of levelling up to get stronger. She scowls.

'How'd these girls ever end up being the Shinju-sama's Heroes...?' ]
