[MU] - DECEMBER STORYTELLING / MEMORY SHARE
Something is wrong.
This may not very well be obvious, at first. The Storyteller is not present to put forth yet another diatribe, informative or apologetic, and the backdrop of guttering flame and sandy campfire is as present as ever...albeit briefly.
Those who tell their stories will start to notice something...odd taking place. Indeed, no matter how they intend to begin their tale, the land of Mu will immediately start to warp to accommodate it, or something utterly unlike it, until storytellers and listeners alike may find themselves in an exact recreation of a seemingly random memory, in the most stark and painstaking of detail. There is no altering the memory, nor is there any preventing it once it's begun to play - you will simply have to witness memories that are not your own this go around.
Furthermore, stories that take place in worlds other than LifeAftr will be, frankly, inevitable. Those memories, too, will be recreated, to be relived by the teller and lived by the listener.
It is time, once more, for you to tell a story...with a slight twist! This is, in fact, our first player plot, as provided by Dragon! The initial setting will be familiar for oldcomers, and newcomers will recognize it from the introduction they received in their dreams.
Yet for this Storytelling only, people can imagine whatever stories they wish, from both their homes and their time on LifeAftr, as long as they don't mind the fact that others will be reliving those stories in the form of an impromptu memory share.
Even those who prefer not to voice their stories aloud are not safe this time around. If the memory is recalled in essence, Mu will shift to accommodate it in full.
There is, however, a benefit to this: those who venture memories to be relived will receive both a befuddled apology from the Storyteller, who will assert that this was most definitely not meant to happen (they're the Storyteller, not the Rememberer!), as well as a tired promise that the relived memories will be worth two offerings each, as if in compensation.
Not that it counts for much, probably.

And of course, Seto, with all the kindness in his heart would never make it known to her. Never warned her about the best friend he found and lost in an area that was far too close to the one she frequented. This isn't the life she envisioned Seto's friend having on their world. For once, she thought someone might be happy there.
For once, she thought Seto would have a place to return. That if their journey turned sour, he could turn around with or without her, and live the rest of his days with a companion to comfort him in that decrepit city.
Tears sting the corners of her eyes when she hears the quiet cry coming out of Seto, notes his shaking back and sees how tightly he clutches this robot, like it's going to keep him awake longer. As if it'll be enough to keep his friend chained to the earth even when she knows-
He's dying.
He's dead.
When the memory begins to fade my best friend continues to echo on in her mind. Her heart.
She doesn't think it'll ever stop.]
Crow?
no subject
He could run. He should just run. It's what he's good at.
... He can't do that to Ren. His best friend wouldn't want him to do that.
It's a long moment before Crow speaks.]
... Yeah? What do you want?
no subject
She can't blame him for wanting to run when memories like that were lay bare for the world to see. Memories that unraveled the life he weaved for himself over the last few months.
But she's glad he didn't run. She's glad he stayed here and acknowledged her. She's glad he didn't try to hide because their world has taught them how to hide well and Ren isn't so sure she could've found him-this boy that would be a part of Seto's future here, even if he can't be back in their world.
The what do you want? reaches her ears and she doesn't have an immediate answer for him. She wants him to stay. Wants him to enjoy his new life and not think about their broken world. It doesn't matter to her that he resembles the faulty dolls scattered across the buildings in their world.]
Thank you-
[Is what comes out. Because it needs to be said, even as her own eyes start to brim with tears and it gets more difficult to keep her thoughts straight.]
For being Seto's best friend.
[Even if he never spoke about it, she knew him and she could recognize the loss he felt in that muffled, soft cry.]
He'll find you very soon. You can be together again.
no subject
[That's... not something he was expecting for her to say, and he can't help but stare in shock.]
Hey... hey, that's not something you need to thank me for. Being friends is something that comes naturally, yeah? And friends always see each other again, so I'm not worried--he'll show up when he's able.
[Also it's kind of confusing him a bit, seeing her cry over this, over someone she barely knows, so he actually comes over, puts a hand down on her head a bit roughly, but. It's an attempt at being comforting.]
And stop that bawling already, this ain't nothing you gotta cry about. Everything's fine, see?
[He's not dead anymore, at least here in this place. Therefore, there's no reason to cry, right?]
no subject
It would be horrible to lose them. To glass cage. To monsters or ghosts or illnesses she can't see.
It's new to have friends. She treasures and relishes in the comfort their existence provides. But she knows there comes a time when they won't see each other again. It sometimes doesn't come naturally-she's not sure if she looked at the other lab kids the same way the people here look at her and she admires Crow's confident tone as he speaks, like he knows all the ins and outs of friendship making. It's what made him a good friend, she's sure.
That's why she wants to thank him and why she blinks the tears away, trying to forget the sound of Seto's crying and the mechanical tone Crow's voice took towards the end. The hand on her head momentarily distracts her from all of it. It's a nice gesture and she can recognize what he's trying to do, even if it's rough. Gosh!! Don't pet her cat like this.]
You're not hurt anymore?
[He's a robot, yeah, but she has to ask.]
You can tell me if something hurts you.
no subject
I ain't hurt or nothing like that. In fact, I've never even cried a single day in my entire life, and I don't plan on starting now.
no subject
It's why she's not like them.
Why she knows she can never be like them.
But his death lingers in her mind and she can't help to stare at him. As though gauging whether or not he's truly okay. She's not wholly unfamiliar with robots and how they work, if the few rolling around the lab were any indication. They needed power, usually, and-]
Will you be okay now?
no subject
[There's a sigil on him that one might not even notice due to the amount of layers he's wearing...]
no subject
She's nervous, but that's her default state anyway. At least the tears in her eyes are gone and she knows to keep a close eye on him , in case something weird happens. A repetition of words, inability to move-she'll remember all of that.]
That's how it is?
[She doesn't sound wholly convinced.]
The bunny can help you too. They're nice. They know how to find lots of things.
[Just.....in case. There are options!! Whatever you do, don't make Seto sad like she's going to someday.]
