[MU] - DECEMBER STORYTELLING / MEMORY SHARE

Something is wrong.

This may not very well be obvious, at first. The Storyteller is not present to put forth yet another diatribe, informative or apologetic, and the backdrop of guttering flame and sandy campfire is as present as ever...albeit briefly.

Those who tell their stories will start to notice something...odd taking place. Indeed, no matter how they intend to begin their tale, the land of Mu will immediately start to warp to accommodate it, or something utterly unlike it, until storytellers and listeners alike may find themselves in an exact recreation of a seemingly random memory, in the most stark and painstaking of detail. There is no altering the memory, nor is there any preventing it once it's begun to play - you will simply have to witness memories that are not your own this go around.

Furthermore, stories that take place in worlds other than LifeAftr will be, frankly, inevitable. Those memories, too, will be recreated, to be relived by the teller and lived by the listener.

It is time, once more, for you to tell a story...with a slight twist! This is, in fact, our first player plot, as provided by Dragon! The initial setting will be familiar for oldcomers, and newcomers will recognize it from the introduction they received in their dreams.

Yet for this Storytelling only, people can imagine whatever stories they wish, from both their homes and their time on LifeAftr, as long as they don't mind the fact that others will be reliving those stories in the form of an impromptu memory share.

Even those who prefer not to voice their stories aloud are not safe this time around. If the memory is recalled in essence, Mu will shift to accommodate it in full.

There is, however, a benefit to this: those who venture memories to be relived will receive both a befuddled apology from the Storyteller, who will assert that this was most definitely not meant to happen (they're the Storyteller, not the Rememberer!), as well as a tired promise that the relived memories will be worth two offerings each, as if in compensation.

Not that it counts for much, probably.

And I found love where it wasn't supposed to be
[ She's wearing the same clothes, in the second memory. Mira is considerably dirtier, though, by the time the women catch up with her. She's breathing hard, and there's a wild look in her eyes. She's trapped, and there's a distinct feeling of that in the memory itself. Panic, too. Mira's quite literally backed into a corner; the forest is too dense where she's standing.

The memory ripples, and when it clears, she's waiting in a tent. Her wrists are bound, and she looks much cleaner. Mira's dressed in fresh clothes, and when she looks up, there's a young woman there. She's not much older than Mira. The memory seems to lighten a bit, and there's hints of affection weaved throughout. They speak for a little while, and the conversation is a little strained.

And then... ]

Why don't you join us? I've heard what you can do, and I'd like to have someone capable at my side. Of course... we'll need to monitor you. You understand, don't you? But afterward, if you earn it, you'll have our trust.

[ Mira watches her for a good long moment... and then she nods. ]

Good. My name is Mae. [ Mae smiles, and Mira blushes a little. ] Welcome aboard.

[There's a feeling laced throughout the memory, removed enough for Xion to get the feeling it's not necessarily immediately a part of it, yet fits in well enough with the context that Xion can tell it's still connected. Memories are something she'd like to think she understands pretty well, being made of them and all.

In any case, by the end Xion can't help but smile a bit. There's something sort of familiar about it too.]

She's someone important, isn't she?

[ She jumps a little, because she certainly isn't expecting anyone to be watching. Mira turns to Xion with a sheepish smile as she pushes a bit of hair out of her face. ]

She is. [ She feels fifteen years old, a teenager with a crush. ] She's the person I trust more than anyone.

[Smiles like that are contagious in their own way.]

It's really wonderful to have someone like that. Especially when you're in trouble.

[She realizes that she's kind of guessing about that being in trouble part, and ducks her head.]

Um... S-sorry. That's just... what it felt like, from the first part.

Oh-- no, no, you don't have to apologize.

[ Because Xion had hit the mark. Mae'd shown up--or her comrades had--when Mira'd needed it most. ]

But you're right. Mae's been... wonderful. I can't imagine my life without her, and I doubt I'd have gotten nearly as far as I have without her.
