[MU] - DECEMBER STORYTELLING / MEMORY SHARE
Something is wrong.
This may not very well be obvious, at first. The Storyteller is not present to put forth yet another diatribe, informative or apologetic, and the backdrop of guttering flame and sandy campfire is as present as ever...albeit briefly.
Those who tell their stories will start to notice something...odd taking place. Indeed, no matter how they intend to begin their tale, the land of Mu will immediately start to warp to accommodate it, or something utterly unlike it, until storytellers and listeners alike may find themselves in an exact recreation of a seemingly random memory, in the most stark and painstaking of detail. There is no altering the memory, nor is there any preventing it once it's begun to play - you will simply have to witness memories that are not your own this go around.
Furthermore, stories that take place in worlds other than LifeAftr will be, frankly, inevitable. Those memories, too, will be recreated, to be relived by the teller and lived by the listener.
It is time, once more, for you to tell a story...with a slight twist! This is, in fact, our first player plot, as provided by Dragon! The initial setting will be familiar for oldcomers, and newcomers will recognize it from the introduction they received in their dreams.
Yet for this Storytelling only, people can imagine whatever stories they wish, from both their homes and their time on LifeAftr, as long as they don't mind the fact that others will be reliving those stories in the form of an impromptu memory share.
Even those who prefer not to voice their stories aloud are not safe this time around. If the memory is recalled in essence, Mu will shift to accommodate it in full.
There is, however, a benefit to this: those who venture memories to be relived will receive both a befuddled apology from the Storyteller, who will assert that this was most definitely not meant to happen (they're the Storyteller, not the Rememberer!), as well as a tired promise that the relived memories will be worth two offerings each, as if in compensation.
Not that it counts for much, probably.

Every time they'd found their hands playing with the crest stitched upon the chest of their robes. Feeling out the individual threads, spreading their hands out and attempting to cover the Delta Rune entirely, obscure it, for a moment, until they were expected to step out in front of the public with it on full display.
They never could.]
People will believe in anyone, if they're desperate enough. They'll ignore every warning sign, just to believe that someone else is going to save them.
Until someone better comes along. Then, they'll forget all about you.
[That isn't what she asked, and they know that. It's why they smile up at her; a gesture so shallow and plastic that perhaps, they shouldn't have bothered at all. Old habits die hard.
Much like them.]
Take it from someone with experience, ma'am. If you think about it, there's no point in sanitizing yourself. Not for something temporary.

I was never meant for anything temporary. My position as the first human Spectre was, and is, one of the most significant advancements for humanity in the galaxy.
[They smile at her and she knows it is for show. It's a face she made quite a bit herself when going through basic. When she wasn't being surly.]
Everything I put forward, everything I pretended to be- it wasn't all a sham, Kidwun.
[She wishes, suddenly, intensely, that Anderson was here. He'd make more sense than she would. After all, he's the one who first looked at her and thought...]
Yes, these people wanted to use me. Hell, most of the Alliance thought I was a waste of space. A no-name street rat that was a blight on the military's good reputation.
[Hardness creeps into her voice when she says that. She can't help the bitterness that clouds it all.]
But I clawed and fought my way to where I got. And I had help. So I earned my place more than anyone else around me. I get the job done. I got the job done.
I wasn't right to kill this man. I didn't need to be afraid he'd somehow tear it all down. I gave into an old fear of my past, long after I had left it. A symbol lives on past who we really are, Kidwun. It takes a life of its own. When we die, it becomes the sort of thing people carry in their hearts to bolster them up. Whether or not that's fair is something entirely different up for debate. But symbols like you and me- we are never truly forgotten. No matter how much we may want to be.
[She doesn't smile when she looks at them again. All there is is a hard line to her face.]
The good I presented was me. The bad I hid was also me. In the end, I wanted to mean something to these people. In the end I wanted to help. And I made the concessions I did pursuing that ideal. I don't regret it. Even after everything that happened.
[She doesn't elaborate. It would take a lot longer to really explain it all to them. But she feels that if they ever got to that point together, they'd hear her. And she knows she would hear them in turn.]

They have to wonder how much of her own motivations had come from the same place. A drive to prove she was better than anyone had ever expected her to be- flipping off the universe in the most politely blatant way possible-- wrapping herself in the power of her own achievements, with or without their assistance. She admits to it herself, she had assistance, to get where she was. To present herself as something she doesn't regret.
And perhaps that's the difference, here.]
If that is truly how you feel, then I will argue against it no further. My own stance remains the same, however; if he was foolish enough to make such threats, then his blood is on his own hands.
[Perhaps she still thinks it too harsh- a smear on her campaign to be the better person. But humans are not good people. Sometimes, most often times, the only way to deal with them was to meet their threats with the first action.
That was their problem, not hers. And certainly not Chara's.]
