[MU] - DECEMBER STORYTELLING / MEMORY SHARE
Something is wrong.
This may not very well be obvious, at first. The Storyteller is not present to put forth yet another diatribe, informative or apologetic, and the backdrop of guttering flame and sandy campfire is as present as ever...albeit briefly.
Those who tell their stories will start to notice something...odd taking place. Indeed, no matter how they intend to begin their tale, the land of Mu will immediately start to warp to accommodate it, or something utterly unlike it, until storytellers and listeners alike may find themselves in an exact recreation of a seemingly random memory, in the most stark and painstaking of detail. There is no altering the memory, nor is there any preventing it once it's begun to play - you will simply have to witness memories that are not your own this go around.
Furthermore, stories that take place in worlds other than LifeAftr will be, frankly, inevitable. Those memories, too, will be recreated, to be relived by the teller and lived by the listener.
It is time, once more, for you to tell a story...with a slight twist! This is, in fact, our first player plot, as provided by Dragon! The initial setting will be familiar for oldcomers, and newcomers will recognize it from the introduction they received in their dreams.
Yet for this Storytelling only, people can imagine whatever stories they wish, from both their homes and their time on LifeAftr, as long as they don't mind the fact that others will be reliving those stories in the form of an impromptu memory share.
Even those who prefer not to voice their stories aloud are not safe this time around. If the memory is recalled in essence, Mu will shift to accommodate it in full.
There is, however, a benefit to this: those who venture memories to be relived will receive both a befuddled apology from the Storyteller, who will assert that this was most definitely not meant to happen (they're the Storyteller, not the Rememberer!), as well as a tired promise that the relived memories will be worth two offerings each, as if in compensation.
Not that it counts for much, probably.

iii!! (cw: panic, mentions of abuse, PTSD flashbacks, mild dissociation
There's no denying what she sees in front of her. There's no denying what this means and she clenches her fists, breathing fast and shallow. She can't seem to look away no matter how hard she tries, eyes wide and frozen straight ahead as she bears witness to this horrific scene. It feels like there is static in her head as a loud buzzing fills her ears.
Now it's time to put you in your place.
She sees the boy before her, shielding himself as his Pokemon emerges from its ball and defends him and she feels far away. When he picks up the club and strikes back, every thwack of the club against flesh sending ripples of phantom pain through her. One, two, three- she knows the feeling. Intimately.]
fuck
[The word slips out in a breathless whisper before she can stop herself and she digs her fingernails into her palms, forcing in and out deep breaths. Years ago. This was years ago. Get it together, Shepard, this isn't even yours, this is something different-
The memory finally, blessedly, ends. The child runs. Shepard feels nausea prickling at her as she tries to calm her heart in her throat. He got away, at least. He survived. And so did she, once upon a time.
He survived and grew up and she looks and sees him and- yeah. She's not entirely surprised to see Guzma there. She'd felt like she understood him more than she probably should. She doesn't know if he'll react kindly to her having seen this; hell, she's not sure she shouldn't leave for purely her sake. But all the same, she still asks:]
Guzma. Are you ok?
no subject
Runs.
He wants to run now. He wants to escape this vision and just wake up. Wake up and stop the constant replay of this horrific scene. He had locked it away for a reason, he had nearly forgotten the pain, the torture, for a reason. His hands shake, as they grip his knees, sitting still on the log before the fire when it finally ends. His head is bowed, eyes closed, as if he couldn't see everything beyond his shut lids...but they open to stare viciously ahead when he's asked a simple question.
Are you ok?
Haha...hahaha...it's funny. It's so funny. It's so damn funny he wants to grab this foolish woman by the throat and tell her everything's fine. Tell her, as he's squeezing the air from her body, that he's completely, utterly fine. That he's perfectly okay, that this didn't effect him poorly in any way, as her eyes lose their color. That he's not messed up and broken, unwanted and deranged...because of this.
It's okay. He's okay.
Hilarious.]
Piss off.
[Is what he snarls, voice strained as he wheezes out the two words. It's a warning, a threat. He's seen this enough. He's endured this enough. In no way is he okay, and in no way will he ever, ever be. The damage has long been done. And there's no fixing it now. No talking about it will recover anything of the past. That's why he never did - talk about it, that is. There's nothing left of what he was before, it's just who he is now. And that? Is a useless, violent thug that everyone hates and fears.]
