Storytelling

Storytelling

The world is made of people telling stories.

Should your character require an object, specific or general, the Storyteller may be willing to listen to your request and oblige accordingly. However, they can only fulfill requests due to offerings of...well, stories.

Here, you may visit the Storyteller's Temple and offer your stories. You do not need to spend them right away; it's often advisable to have a store of offerings in case you need to make some emergency donations or emergency requests. But it is useful to contribute every so often!

Not sure how many stories your character has? Check our Accruals Page!

When submitting an offering, please keep the following limitations in mind:
I) THREE-STORY LIMIT
To keep things fair, characters may only offer three stories per month. These stories can be given all at once, one by one, and so on. You do not need to contribute three stories per month, or even at all, if you'd rather not! This is simply the upper limit of how many stories can be accrued each month.

II) RELEVANCY
Those who have been in LifeAftr for at least one month must relate stories of their time in LifeAftr for them to count. Newcomers can tell whatever tales they wish, including tales from home.

III) VERACITY
You might be something of a compulsive un-truther, prone to embellishments and long, fanciful tangents. However, as long as the core of the story is true to its spirit, you are free to spin your tale however you like.
Stories need not be long, or conventional, or even verbal; as long as the Storyteller knows they have been told, they will qualify. They can be told in whatever way is most comfortable - through nursery rhyme, through song, through charades, through pictograms, through simple conversation. Write-ups of stories do not need to be intensive and overly detailed, unless the player wishes to go fully into that detail; greater length and depth of an OOC write-up will not increase the power or value of your story.

Those of the nonverbal persuasion have, as of a request issued by Ren ([personal profile] catpiper), an alternative means of telling their stories if they so choose, in the form of the Chamber of Glyphs.

Storytelling Submissions

You can start by posting a blank comment with your character name in the header, and use that comment as an umbrella each time you wish to contribute a story. There is no limit to how many stories at a time your character gives, as long as they do not exceed three per month - they can tell one, two, or three stories at a time!

Please do not add any character tags to this post!
